Our Life and Work of Brunel tour brings to life the remarkable achievements of this legendary engineer. The tour aims to inspire pupils’ curiosity and foster an appreciation for engineering and innovation through storytelling, visuals, and interactive elements.
In this tour, pupils will learn about:
- Isambard’s family
- Thames Tunnel, Clifton Suspension Bridge, the Great Western Railway, The Great Western, The SS Great Britain and The Great Eastern.
- The impact and legacy of his projects and engineering concepts have to this day.
- His accidents and near-misses.

Additional information
This tour does require all participants to cross the Clifton Suspension Bridge. The tour will start on the Clifton side of the bridge and finish at the visitor centre.
If your group is larger than 25, we will split into smaller groups and start at staggered points.
We will give the group health and safety instructions about crossing the bridge in advance.
