Following the death of Isambard Kingdom Brunel in 1859, the Clifton Suspension Bridge was completed by the engineers John Hawkshaw and William Henry Barlow. Although their names are not familiar to us today, they were both very well respected in the Victorian period. So who were they, and what did they do?
