Group Tours
If you're planning to bring a large group to the bridge, a 45-minute guided tour is the best way to experience the story of the bridge.
Our knowledgeable volunteer guides will take you on a group tour around the site, pointing out interesting features of the bridge’s architecture and engineering, and spotlighting the best views and vistas. They’ll tell the story of the bridge’s design and build, introducing the life and works of the famous engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel. You’ll also hear some amazing stories of daring feats and learn about the methods we have used to maintain this important historic structure over the past 150 years.
Group Tour FAQs
Can you cater for engineers or other special interest groups?
- Our guide team has a wide variety of expertise and we often provide tours for engineers, historians and geologists. Please let us know if there is an aspect of the bridge or Bristol you are particularly interested in at the time of booking.
- We can also tailor tours for Scouts, Guides and Brownies. Please speak to us about your topic of interest or badge requirements.
Will the tour be suitable for people with mobility issues?
- We are used to welcoming groups with limited mobility and will happily slow the pace to ensure it is accessible. Benches are available on both tower approaches and abutments and those who do not wish to cross the bridge, there is a fine view from nearby benches at Clifton Down and Observatory Hill and a wide selection of coffee shops in nearby Clifton Village. Please see our Accessibility Guide and let us know in advance if there is anything we can do to make your visit more comfortable.
Do you cater for groups with English as a second language?
- We can present tours in English for non-native speakers and have limited capacity for tours in other languages. Please contact us with your requirements.
