Did you know that Brunel’s original design for the bridge was decorated with cast-iron hieroglyphs that would tell the story of its construction?
Unfortunately, this part of the design was never completed. Cast-iron was very expensive and they didn’t have enough money.
Write a story on the outline of the tower in hieroglyphs. Use our alphabet as a guide. (There are lots of images of hieroglyphs on the internet to look at too – Brunel even made up some of his own.)
